FOODIE HAUNTS IN SOUTHPORT
During the last month my life seems to have revolved around food, in particular in the Southport & Formby area, where interesting foodie haunts are popping up all over the town.
THE LANSDOWNE BAR which is owned by the Tyndall family is a really different sort of eating house. When I visited it was a miserable drizzly day but the atmosphere in the Lansdowne is so warm and cosy that it was perfect. My choice of meal was difficult as I could have eaten my way through the whole menu, but in the end I opted for seafood casserole. It consisted of cod, prawns, mussels etc. in a very light sauce and was delicious. Other diners were tucking into the most tempting sandwiches.

D'VINE SANDWICH & FOOD BAR is the new venture of Giles Gottig. A bright and airy bar
I find difficult to drive past without stopping to pick up a delicious home made soup. The takeaway menu is huge and varied, and the sandwich I have tried Piri Piri Chicken with chilli jam was scrumptious. Giles is offering corporate catering and catering for bespoke functions.

HELENA'S BROOKFIELDS KITCHEN is Brookfields Sandwich Bar which has been around
for many years, however Helena has rebranded the business and introduced many new
idea's. She is offering colourful cushions and fleeces to enable customers to sit outside
the bar but still keep warm ,which is normal practice in her home city of Stockholm . Her speciality is homemade bread to die for, brown bread with apricots and walnuts is hard to resist. She has also extended the menu to incorporate many hot dishes i.e. beef strogonoff, she is also offering outside corporate catering.

RAMADA HOTEL The view from the Ramada Hotel Restaurant is breathtaking and I enjoyed the most delicious rissoto I have ever eaten. It was cooked with smoked haddock but the suprise was in the centre of the rice, as hidden was a beautifully cooked poached egg which was perfect .I actually ordered a small portion and was quite sorry as I could
happily of eaten my way through another serving.

THE GALLERY Not to neglect Formby I also enjoyed a delicious Chorizo Ragout at this stylish restaurant. Chorizo is my favourite ingredient of the moment and this was mixed
with squid and vegetables in a spicy tomato sauce which was really good. The Gallery is a
lovely restaurant to just pop in for a coffee or drink day or evening.
